On Sunday mornings we seek to involve children in the worship of God and opportunities for spiritual growth.

During the 9:30 Christian education hour and 10:45 worship, a nursery is provided for infants through age 2.

During worship, our children serve as acolytes, help to announce the beginning of the service, and gather up canned food donations for the local food bank. After the Children’s moment in worship, children ages 3 through kindergarten are invited to attend Children’s Worship.  Older children are encouraged to participate in the regular service with their parents and church friends. A children’s corner in the sanctuary, complete with books and coloring pages, is available for any little ones who may need to get up out of their seat and “wiggle around” a bit during the service.

Because we value our children as full of infinite worth and as children of God entrusted to the care of First Christian Church, we offer our Children’s Worship program as a special time for children aged 3 through kindergarten to receive training in and extend their spiritual experiences as a part of a Christian community of faith. This happens through age appropriate worship experiences, fellowship, sharing of Bible and faith stories, activities and prayer.

By sharing a snack in an intentional way, by serving and being served, children will gain under-standing of the servant Christ, and how we are called to be servants, too. By listening and participating in Bible stories, children will gain an understanding of their Christian heritage and will be provided a faith foundation upon which to grow. By participating in activities such as crafts, music and games, children will utilize all their senses to reinforce their learning and they will experience the faith and put it into action.

At 9:30 AM on Sundays FCC offers Christian education classes for 3-4 year olds, K-1st grade, and 2-6 grade. We utilize the Workshop Rotation approach, teaching one Bible story a month but with a different approach each Sunday such as storytelling, art, games, and service projects.

FCC offers a parents group which meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM. Each Sunday parents share the challenges and joys of raising their young ones, offering each other support and encouragement.

Throughout the year, we offer children other opportunities to learn about God and grow in their faith such as Vacation Bible School, a children’s Christmas program, craft workshops during Advent and Lent, safe and fun activities on Halloween night, church camp in the summer, and more!
