Spiritual Education

At First Christian Church, we take seriously the importance of equipping all people to experience God, each in his or her own way.  We offer spiritual education opportunities for all ages from preschool to adult.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM, there are classes for all ages. 

• Children (ages preschool through elementary) enjoy exciting stories, stimulating activities and caring teachers. 

• Youth (middle school and high school) engage in relevant discussions about how to think critically about their faith.

• Adults have two opportunities for study and discussion: The Pastor’s Class taught by Rev. Peeples offers an open-minded discussion of the relationship between faith and culture.  Past studies have included Living the Questions and Saving Jesus.  The Contemporary Christianity Class offers a book discussion format.  In recent months, the class has been reading together Listening for God, a collection of short stories and essays on spiritual themes by noted American authors.

Youth Group–On Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM, middle school and high school youth have a topical Bible study followed by games and other fun activities.

Church Book Club–The church book club (open to all ages) meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend. This fall, the group will be reading together The Faith Club: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew-Three Women Search for Understanding.

Young Adult Book Club–The young adult book club (focused on those in their 20′s & 30′s but we’re not too strict about it) meets at Hazel’s Coffee Shop every other Tuesday. Currently they are reading Lord or Legend: Wrestling with the Jesus Dilemma by Gregory A. Boyd and Paul Rhodes Eddy.  Come join in the discussion and build some new relationships. For information, contact Andrew Kar.
