Worship Without Walls

We can worship in many ways: through singing, prayer, story, and through sacred meal. At First Christian we also worship through mission and service, seasonally turning over our regular worship service to a morning of hands-on mission, with outreach projects both in our building and out in the community. We begin the morning by gathering for singing, prayer and scripture. Then we are sent out to serve, regrouping for lunch, prayer and communion.

Our next WWW is scheduled for April 29, 2018.

See here photos of a recent WWW event.

Our recent Worship Without Walls events included the following  projects:

Food for the Soul: Preparing and delivering sack lunches for the guests at the Open Door Food Kitchen.

Letters of Compassion: Writing encouraging notes to send to our homebound and college students, local police officers, and others.

Painting for Peace: Sprucing up the nearby women’s shelter with some painting and cleaning.

Songs of Love: Leading a hymn sing and a time of visiting at a local nursing home.

Hands of Helping: Beautifying the nearby neighborhood, picking up trash and weeding.

Kits of Hope: Assembling hygiene kits with items (e.g. soap, toothbrush, Band-Aids) to help out persons affected by natural disasters and refugee situations.  Kits will be sent off to Church World Service to be distributed world-wide.

Building a Better Tomorrow: Volunteering to help with projects at the local Habit for Humanity ReStor
